Trouble with voting machines seemed to come in threes: poorly trained, older staff unfamiliar with technology (in Illinois, we boasted of help in the form of ‘high schoolers’ who had ‘knowledge of computers’); uncertain state of system after completing an interaction; and trustability.
I can’t emphasize how much a good user experience team would have helped but only so far as stakeholders know about what we can do to help them reduce costs and increase user efficacy and satisfaction.
