Now that all has been said that can be said about Seung Cho (until the book and movie rights are sold) and the Chicago city elections (whose true effects won’t be felt for a while to come), we return our normal broadcast schedule.
Been doing a lot of benchmarking for a client as part of our design process. I don’t know how many clients require seeing what other websites are doing out there for you guys out there, but, I think there’s utility in seeing what others are doing in this space. Given what Krug says, that there are only so many ways to do work, and that as Nielsen says, most people will spend their time on sites other than your own, the competitive review takes on a new dimension. We seek intelligence about the underlying interaction pattern language elements for a process governed by very similar business rules. . .
Was in east suburban Cleveland yesterday for an interactive practice meeting, led by the big boss man and our principals. To begin with, a lovely lovely day, so rare for Cleveland lately, which has been mired in a fairly snowy winter until only a week or so ago; the flight on a cramped small passenger jet was only an hour, and I needed the exercise walking from one end of the airport to the other; the usual office chaos livened up the afternoon. In essence, there’s a lot of energy in our part of the business, a lot of talent, and a lot of enthusiasm. In the next few weeks, I might talk to some of my colleagues about the work we do and our learnings and insights and publish our conversations on this blog. Look forward to it. . .
