Did anyone see Fargo and remember the Korean American adoptee who wails, “It’s been so lonely!” Yeah, well. Not exactly a life affirming moment for us Asian Am men. I cringed, but sympathize, particularly more recently. Not only because you’re in a predominantly non-Asian American space, being the midwest and all. It is kind of a point of our firm though that at this level of appointment, you should be able to take on work without much handholding and just run with it. I value that latitude, but it’s also good to be living among and working with others in teams when the opportunity affords. I like to see what other people in our house think and how they work. It helps me help everyone’s work along so I can do mine.
If the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference, as I heard on the CBC recently, I say, down with indifference.
