One of the great pleasures, or so I’d like to think, of living in a city that experiences four distinct seasons, is that you get to experience things that only happen in that season, and that tends to contribute to the richness of living. I think it would be a great thing if we were to build seasonality into considerations in the development of user experience. It is hard to think that is the case with winter, when we are buried under nearly of a foot of snow, but it happens to be the case downtown recently with a new installation of a giant ice mural, by Canadian artist Gordon Halloran, in Millennium Park. I’m hopeful about experiencing this but it is due to warm up this week, and it has been hard to motivate myself to get out of the house lately except to get to work.

I suggest going directly after work. I find in winter that once I get home? It’s unbelievably difficult to get out again. It’s like my floor is sticky molasses, except less messy.

nice to know there are other people out there that dislike winter as much as i do. very creative idea to brighten the cold dark days.
